Listed - Malt Liquor

In honor of Taylor's last post here is my ranking of Malt Liquors:

1. Olde English - This is the best tasting Malt Liquor. In theory you could enjoy this and not be in College or Homeless.
2. Mickey's - If O.E. is not available then this the next best. It becomes greatly improved with Orange Juice.
3. Colt 45 - Here is where it becomes shaky. I can take or leave Colt. I do not fell like I must finish my drink.
4. King Cobra - I will only drink this if A) its the only thing available, B) I am out of money C) I absolutely desperately need to get drunk. If two out of three of those categories are not meet, then skip over this.
5. Steele Reserve - There is never a reason to drink this.

Summer Drinks (In Bottle Form)

The world of microbrews allow many treats for the seasoned drinker from coast to coast. There are the hearty, complex tastes of micro brews from the North East. There are the drinks of the south that allow a true drinker to spend an entire afternoon doing nothing but sipping and reminiscing about the days of yester-year. There are the brews of the West that allow a drinker to relax and forget the stresses of the day, and magically transport him or her to the feeling of summer, and naturally, a pure state of inebriation.
Although microbrews are always a treat, no matter what season it is, the fact that it is summer has influenced the drinking choices of this writer. I'm a college student without much of a disposable income, therefore, on paper the idea of microbrews are fantastic, and on the occasion  I have money to spend, I'll indulge and buy a cheap local beer. Part of the appeal is lost however, due to the fact that microbrews are not a drink one should half-ass. Therefore, until I have money, I have turned to an old standby that to me symbolizes any summer spent in a major city. I am of course talking about the wonderful world of malt-liquor which one can drink from a glass bottle known as a 40. To me, the 40 transports the drinker to times spent on various stoops with a grill going, good friends laughing, and usually a soundtrack including all of your favorite early 90's rappers. For anyone who has never experienced said situation, I extend my sincerest apologies, and I recommend calling up that friend from college who lives in a city, and of course making a visit. Perhaps bring one of the local malts.
A 40 of malt-liquor can be sampled very much like the microbrews of a given region. There are hundreds of different brands in every region across the country. The joy of this beverage is one can get a very decent amount of alcohol, for a very cheap price. This fact has led a majority of the population to stereotype the drinkers of 40s into the homeless, college students, and people falling below the poverty line. Although there is a stigma surrounding my drink of choice, I will show that by the end of the summer that 40s are a drink that deserve to be enjoyed. In my next post, I'll be reviewing an old favorite known as Mickey's. Until then, enjoy your libations.

Lincoln Lager

Lincoln Lager is a mild and crisp beer. Nothing real exciting here. Has a semi-hopps-y taste, but nothing real interesting. Its refreshing, but if your looking for something spectacular then look else where.

Calico Amber

Ballast Point Brewing's Calico Amber has a mild taste, that is very pleasant and pleasing. Refreshing for those warm nights. As you can see it has a rich color. They balance the hopps and malt very nicely. Definitely worth checking out.

*On a side note I can assure you that the taste increases ten fold when severed cold. So Bev Mo get fridges.*

American Craft Beer Fest

American Craft Beer Fest being held in Boston, MA June 19 & 20. If I were back in Boston, I would be there. The great Taylor may make an appearance. The list of brewers attending is impressive. If you are 21+ and in Boston, I can not see a reason not to go.

Red Rocket Ale and Indica IPA

Bear Republic's Red Rocket Ale was a nice tasty Micro-Brew, or at least what I consider a Micro-brew. This beer had excellent full bodied hopps flavor, but not over powering. Definitely not a beer you forget drinking.

I really enjoyed Lost Coast's Indica IPA. This was a great IPA with an almost sweet flavor. While sweet, this was still definitely an IPA, so it did not lack in hopps. After the initial bitter taste, a sweetness emerged. This is a beer that I will buy again.

Red Rocket on the left. Indica on the right.
